General Elections 2024: ICAI- The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has notified that the CA exams scheduled for May 2024 can be postponed if the dates of the exams coincide with general elections.
According to the official notification by ICAI, “It is pertinent to mention that general election to 18th Lok Sabha is scheduled to be held in 2024, notification for which is awaited. Accordingly, the examination committee may reschedule the May 2024 CA examination, if the dates of the general election coincide with the present examination schedule.”
As per the official ICAI May 2024 exam calendar,
The CA Foundation course exams are scheduled for June 20, 22, 24, and 26.
The Intermediate Group 1 exams are scheduled for May 3, 5, and 7,
CA Inter Group 2 exams are scheduled for May 9, 11, and 13.
The CA Final exams are scheduled to be held on May 2, 4, and 6 for Group 1, and on May 8, 10, and 12 for Group 2.
The registration window for the CA May 2024 exams without late fees closed on February 23, 2024.

Aspirants who failed to apply for the CA May 2024 exams before the deadline will be able to register by paying a late fee of Rs 600 or 10 US dollars. All registered candidates will be allowed to make changes in the submitted form from March 3 to 9.

Introduction of Cooling-Off Period and Observer Eligibility Criteria: I
The ICAI has proposed a Cooling-Off Period where cool-off will be given to one attempt after three consecutive attempts for individuals involved in observership duties.
Eligibility criteria for empanelment: Members who fulfill the following criteria are eligible for empanelment, to act as Observers.
- He/she should not be more than 65 years of age as on the date of empanelment, i.e.15 th February, 2024.
- ii) His/her name should have been borne on the Register of Members as on 1 st November 2021 and continues to be so;
- iii) Neither he/she nor his/her relatives* or dependant* is / will be appearing in the ensuing Chartered Accountants Examinations for students / Post – Qualification Course Examinations in MAY/JUNE 2024 in any examination centers in India or Abroad.
- He/she is not coaching students for any of the examinations/tests conducted by the Council of the Institute in any institutions/organization including Regional Councils / Branches of the Institute and also private coaching.
- He/she has not been convicted by any court of Law and no disciplinary proceedings are pending against him/her, either by the ICAI / Disciplinary Directorate or by any other organization, both in India or abroad.
- He/she is not associated with the Institute as an elected/co-opted member of the Council / Regional Council / Managing Committee of any Branch of the ICAI.
- He/she shall abide by the Guidelines for Observer and /or any other instructions.
- He/she is not a covid patient / or having symptoms of the Covid and will not take any assignment of Observer’s duty if detected on duty dates.
Honorarium for Observer
Candidates shortlisted as observer will be paid honorarium of ₹ 3,000 per day per session. In addition ₹ 350 will be paid as conveyance reimbursement for ‘A’ class cities and ₹ 250 for other cities per day.
